Toluca is one of the top teams in the Liga MX with eight points, with draws against Chivas and Cruz Azul and wins against Atlas and Leon. The most recent result for Los Diablos was a scoreless draw against Cruz Azul away from home, which was their second shutout of the season. Hernan Cristante has a solid squad but will have some key absences for this game as Alfredo Talavera is still injured and Colombian striker Fernando Uribe may also miss the game.

Some of the standouts have been Carlos Gonzalez and Jesus Isijara, who have two goals each in the league.
