Aston Villa boss explains why he is not using McCormack despite injury crisis

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce believes that Ross McCormack has not done enough to warrant a place in the clubs first team despite the Villains being faced by injury problems.

Villa are short of options up front due to the injuries of Jonathan Kodjia and Scott Hogan. In light of this, Bruce has however preferred to use his developmental players over the experienced McCormack.

When asked about the McCormack situation, Bruce has now said, “I’ve opened the door in pre-season for Ross but he hasn’t done enough to warrant a place in the side. There’s others above him in the side right now.”

The 30-year-old McCormack has been linked with moves to Sunderland and Leeds. Villa are open to listening to offers for the player, though they have made it clear that they prefer a sale over a loan deal.

Youngsters Rushian Hepburn-Murphy and Keinan Davis are likely to get a nod above McCormack for the Villains game against Norwich on Saturday.
