Kevin Wimmer has revealed that Southampton never showed “concrete interest” in him and added that he has other options in terms of clubs that he can join.
The Austrian international Wimmer has been linked with a move away from Spurs this summer due to his lack of first team opportunities last season.
Southampton had been linked with a move to the Saints as they look at alternative options for the defence ahead of life without Virgil van Dijk. Van Dijk has handed in a transfer request to the club and is expected to join wither Chelsea or Liverpool.
When asked about Southampton’s interest in him, Wimmer replied saying, “The interest from Southampton was not really concrete. I would like to stay in Premier League, because there are other possibilities.”
Spurs will likely allow Wimmer to leave especially as they are close to signing Serge Aurier.
