Sunderland manager Simon Grayson has revealed that Aiden McGeady is one of the most talented players that he has worked with.
Grayson is a fan of McGeady having also worked with him last season whilst the 31-year-old was on loan at Preston North End from Everton.
McGeady’s impressive form for Preston last year led to him becoming one of Grayson’s first signings when he took over the Black Cats.
McGeady repaid his manager for the faith shown in him last week when he scored a goal during the Black Cats 3-1 victory over Norwich City.
Grayson said of the player, “Aiden is probably the most talented player I’ve worked with and is looking good value at only £250,000. He is a player who has immense ability.
“He had fallen out of love with the game before I took him to Preston last year and let him express himself, because his ability is as good as anyone’s.
“You saw glimpses of what he can do. He has fallen back in love with the game, and when I came in to Sunderland he was the first player I wanted to sign.”
