According to reports, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has made Celta Vigo midfielder Pepe Cheikh Diop his number one midfield target which means that the North London club could cool their interest in Everton star Ross Barkley.
The 20-year-old Diop is highly rated having played for Spain at various youth levels. He may also be tempted by a move to North London considering that Pochettino has developed a reputation of working well with talent.
This news could mean that Ross Barkley’s chances of moving to last season’s Premier League runners-up could be lowered.
The 23-year-old Barkley is available for sale after he rejected a new contract offer with the Toffees as and has just one year remaining on his contract.
Though Spurs have been interested in signing him, they may be put off by the Toffees asking price, which is said to be in the region of £50 million.
