West Ham boss admits his side lost out to Everton in the race for attacker

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has claimed that his club were beaten to the signature of Sandro Ramirez by Everton.

The Toffees completed the signature of the 22-year-old Ramirez this summer for a fee in the region of £5.1 million.

There will be heavy expectations of Ramirez this season and he will be expected to score many goals, especially as the Toffees sold Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United.

Bilic confirmed that he was also interested in signing Ramirez, who is a product of Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy but lost out to Ronald Koeman’s team

He said, “Ramirez from Malaga came in, he was in Barcelona and we wanted him but he chose Everton. He is a quick player and has no traits like Lukaku. They lost his strength, but gained speed [in Ramirez].”

Ramirez is a good fit for the Merseyside club especially considering that Koeman enjoys working with young talent.
