According to reports, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has encouraged the club’s board to bring in new players to add in new energy to the squad for the new season.
The North London club started the season on a good note by claiming a 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Sunday through goals from Dele Alli and Ben Davies.
The team is however the only team in the English top flight that has yet to make a new signing this summer and is still to replace Kyle Walker, who joined Manchester City for £50 million.
Spurs are reportedly keen on luring Ross Barkley and have also been linked with Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez and Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo.
When asked if he is content with his squad following the defeat of Newcastle, Pochettino said, “Now sure it’s an advantage to not sign players! I think the balance is the most important. We need some new faces to bring new energy in the team.
“It’s always important to challenge your best players. It’s true that we are calm and we are strong enough to compete in the same way we did last season.”
