Sunderland star says he is not concerned by club’s recent history

Sunderland footballer Aiden McGeady has said that the club’s history of starting seasons on a bad note is of no concern to the team’s current squad.

The Black Cats recorded a 3-1 win over Norwich City this weekend through a brace from Lewis Grabban and a further goal from Grabban himself.

The Black Cats played excellently away from home and deserved the three points. After being relegated from the Premier League last season, many expected the Black Cats to struggle in the second tier this season due to the internal issues within the club but that has not proven to be the case so far.

McGeady, who arrived at the club this summer from Everton, feels that the clubs history of early season struggles is of no concern to the current team by saying, “It’s a fresh start for everyone. You’re comparing us winning a game in August to previous years, it’s a new league, new manager, new players.

“It has been enjoyable so far because we’ve got off to a good start. A positive result against Derby (a 1-1 draw), against Bury (a 1-0 win in the League Cup) and on Sunday – it has started well.”
