This Wednesday, August 16, 2017 (5:06 PM Pacific) Leon will host Veracruz at the Estadio Leon for a match in the fourth round of matches in the Copa MX. Both teams are not expected to do much in the Liga MX but can have decent runs in this edition of the Copa MX.

Leon has really struggled in the Liga MX but is coming off its first win in the tournament, a 3-0 win against Necaxa away from home. La Fiera has also dominated the Copa MX competition, currently undefeated with six points. Los Esmeraldas had a come-from-behind 3-2 win against Oaxaca in their first game, then a hard-fought 2-1 win against Veracruz away from home.

That game turned out to be very entertaining and this game should be more of the same as both teams will be looking for the three points. Leon is the favorite heading into the game with a better squad than its rival, Javier Torrente has used players like Andres Andrade, Alvaro Ramos and William Yarbrough and it will be interesting to see what players he does use in this game.

Veracruz achieved its second win in the Liga MX this past weekend, with a surprising 3-2 win against Santos Laguna away from home. Los Tiburones have six points in the Apertura 2017 but currently, have no points in the Copa MX tournament. Juan Antonio Luna’s team had a 2-1 loss against Leon last week and a 1-0 loss against Oaxaca the week before that.

Luna did play some interesting players like Osmar Mares, Leandro Diaz and Leandro Velazquez in the game against Leon. Veracruz cannot lose this game for any hopes of making the knockout stages of the competition but should find it difficult to get the three points from this game.
