West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has revealed that he “expected more” from his side following their 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester United on Sunday.
United’s £75 million summer signing Romelu Lukaku marked his Premier League debut for the Red Devils with a bang by scoring a brace. Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba added further goals to complete the rout.
West Ham handed debuts to Joe Hart, Marko Arnautovic, Javier Hernandez and Pablo Zabaleta and Bilic was disappointed by the performances of his men but did admit that United were the far better team on the day.
He said, “I expected more of course, but I have to admit they were a much better side in every aspect of the game.
“We knew they had a strong side of course, but I expected us to do much better. We started okay but then it was missing, we were much slower than them.”
