Jordan Amavi explains why he was loyal to Aston Villa last season

Jordan Amavi has revealed that Marseille tried to sign him last summer; however he opted to remain at Aston Villa to show loyalty to the club after they helped him through his injury problems.

The French international Amavi moved to the Ligue one side this past week on loan ahead of a permanent transfer which is set to take place next summer.

He said about Marseille’s interest, “Last winter they wanted to recruit me. It didn’t happen because I just got back from my injury and I was in a club that was counting on me and who supported me during my injury. It’s true it happened at a bad time.”

The 22-year-old did not enjoy the best of times with Villa. He had to deal with severe knee problems and also ended up losing his place in the team to Aly Cissokho and Neil Taylor and will now surely be happy to be back in his homeland.
