Santos Laguna has been a solid team in this Apertura 2017, currently undefeated but without a win. Los Guerreros are coming off three consecutive draws in the Liga MX against Lobos BUAP, Monarcas Morelia and most notably Tigres UANL. These strings of draws are not necessarily a negative as 11 draws in the Clausura 2017 led Santos to a fifth-place finish. The team from Torreon has a very well-built team with a solid defense and midfield and potent attack as well.
Carlos Izquierdoz will not be available for the game because of an injury but that should not affect the outcome of this game. Jose Manuel de la Torre’s team should pick up the three points from the encounter going up against a much weaker opponent at home.
Veracruz is one of the weakest teams in the Liga MX, currently with one win and two losses in this Apertura 2017. Los Tiburones are coming off their first victory in the tournament, with a 2 -0 win against Puebla at home.
Veracruz achieved its first win of the competition and scored its first two goals of the season, Adrian Luna and offseason signing Cristian Menendez providing the goals that gave Los Escualos the three points. This should be a very challenging task for Juan Antonio Luna’s team and it is difficult to see a scenario where Veracruz walks away with any points from the Estadio Corona TSM.
