This Saturday, August 12, 2017 (7:00 AM Pacific) Leeds United will host Preston North End at Elland Road for a game in the second matchday of the Championship. Both teams won in the first matchday of the Championship and will look to continue that success in Week 2.
Leeds United started off the new Championship season with a thrilling 3-2 win against Bolton away from home. The Whites then followed that up with a dominant 4-1 win against League Two side Port Vale in the EFL Cup. Spanish midfielder Samuel Saiz did not feature in the game against Bolton but had an amazing performance against Port Vale, scoring a hat-trick in that game.
That spectacular EFL Cup performance may earn Saiz a spot in the starting 11 this Saturday to strengthen an already potent Leeds United attack. The home team should win this game as they do have a much more talented squad and count with the tremendous home support at Elland Road.
Preston is not a team that is expected to do much this season but did start out the new Championship campaign with a 1-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday at home. The Lilywhites then had a disappointing 3-2 loss against Stanley in the first round of the EFL Cup. Jordan Hugill netted himself a brace against Stanley but did not get a start in the game against Sheffield Wednesday.
The offense was not clicking for Preston in that game against Wednesday and Hugill might get the start in this game to solidify the attack. This game has a clear favorite but should still prove to be a hard-fought encounter between two teams that may fight for distinctive objectives as the season goes on.
