According to Sky Italia, and as cited by Inside Futbol, Napoli have dropped their asking price for striker and Everton-target Duvan Zapata to £23million.
An earlier £27million fee slammed on the Colombian had put off the Toffees from continuing talks when the window first opened, but having still not signed another striker yet, perhaps they could mull over returning for the 26-year-old.
Zapata spent last season on loan at Udinese, scoring 10 goals and assisting 3 in 38 Serie A games, and his overall work-rate attracted Everton.
Sampdoria are also interested in the striking services of the South American, and are very strong suitors for his signature.
Toffees boss Ronald Koeman is still out for another striker, and Zapata’s finishing and abilities on set-pieces make him a decent goalthreat.
He probably won’t get 20 league goals per term, though, but if signed, he can combine well with other forwards and teammates to execute a proper job in finding the back of the net every now and then.
Replacing Romelu Lukaku won’t be an easy feat for Everton, but combined efforts of quality strikers could propel them to a top 6 finish this season.
Zapata could be part of that striking team as he has all it takes to give opposition defenders a tough time.
