This Saturday, August 12, 2017 (7:00 AM Pacific) Cardiff City will host Aston Villa at the Cardiff City Stadium for a game in the second matchday of the Championship. Both teams had disappointing performances in the Championship last season and will look to fight for promotion this season.

Cardiff City had a solid 1-0 win against Burton Albion away from home in the first matchday of the Championship. The young Danish striker Kenneth Zohore scored the lone goal of the game to give Cardiff the win at the Pirelli Stadium.

It will be very interesting to see how Zohore will fare against the rigid Aston Villa back line that features players like John Terry and James Chester. The Welsh side should get some points out of this game, playing at home but it could still prove to be a very challenging task for Neil Warnock’s men.

Aston Villa had a solid start to the new season with a 1-1 draw against Hull City and followed that up with a 2-1 away win against Colchester in the first round of the EFL Cup. The long-time goal scorer for the Villans Gabriel Agbonlahor scored the goal that gave Villa the draw against Hull, while an own goal by Colchester and a goal by former Brentford striker Scott Hogan earned the win for The Lions in the EFL Cup.

The strongest component of Steve Bruce’s team is by far the defense and it may be the key to success in this game if it can stop the vibrant attack of Cardiff City. The game should prove to be a tremendous matchup in this week 2 of the Championship
