This Saturday, August 12, 2017 (7:00 AM Pacific) Birmingham City will host Bristol City at St Andrew’s for a game in the second matchday of the Championship. Both teams had a rough 16-17 season and are looking to turn things around in this new season.
Birmingham had a rough start to the new Championship season with a 1-0 loss to Ipswich Town away from home. Harry Redknapp’s team turned thing around with a dominant 5-1 win against League Two side Crawley Town in the EFL Cup. 21-year-old striker Che Adams was crucial in that cup game netting himself a hattrick.
The youngster could bring that momentum from the midweek match into this game after an unimpressive showing against Ipswich Town in the Championship. This game should be a very winnable game for The Blues at home and the encounter should provide a few goals as well.
Bristol City had a very nice start to the new campaign with a 3-1 win against Barnsley at home. The Robins kept in going in the first round of the EFL Cup with a 5-0 win against Plymouth Argyle. Lee Johnson counted with seven different goal scorers for the eight goals scored in those two games. Bobby Reid was the standout with two goals in the game against Barnsley, former Angers striker Famara Diédhiou scored the other goal in that game.
Bristol should put up a decent fight in this game but it will be going up against a very talented side in the extremely tough venue that is St Andrew’s. The match should be an entertaining and hard-fought encounter and should be one of the matches to look out for this week in the Championship.
