According to reports, Kieran Trippier could be set to miss the start of the new season through ankle injury.
The 26-year-old Trippier limped off during Spurs final pre-season match against Juventus during the weekend and he is said to not be optimistic that he will be available to play against Newcastle United in the North London Clubs first game of this season this weekend.
The injury of Trippier highlights the need for the club to sign a new left back. They sold Kyle Walker to Manchester City this summer for £50 million and do not have experienced cover for Trippier.
Currently there main backup option is Kyle Walker-Peters. Though highly rated, Walker-Peters is not an ideal backup option as he lacks experience at the highest level.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have since been linked with a swoop for Valencia right back Joao Cancelo and it remains to be seen if they will complete his signing.
