Sunderland receive much needed cash with the sale of flop

The transfer of Jeremain Lens from Sunderland to Turkish club Besiktas has been confirmed.

Lens arrived at the Stadium of Light in 2015 and seemingly became surplus to requirements at the club last summer which resulted in him spending last term on loan with Fenerbahce.

He managed to impress last term and established himself as one of the most creative attackers in Turkish football and this attracted the interest from Besiktas.

Now to confirm the deal, Sunderland stated in a brief statement, “Jeremain Lens has completed his move to Besiktas.

“The Dutchman joins the Turkish club after two years on Wearside, where he made 24 appearances for the Black Cats, netting four goals.”

This news will be good for Sunderland fans as Lens never really looked to have settled into life during his time with the Black Cats.

It will also be a welcome addition of funds to a club who have been struggling financially during recent times.
