According to reports, Newcastle United target Lucas Perez has handed in a transfer request to Arsenal.
The 28-year-old Perez is keen to leave the Emirates following a disappointing first season with the club during which he scored several goals from 21 appearances in all competitions.
The arrival of Alexandre Lacazette at the club would have also complicated Perez’s first team opportunities ahead of next season. Manager Arsene Wenger is open to selling and has set the asking price for Perez to £13.5 million.
Though it was already known that Arsenal were willing to sell the player, he has now made if official that he wants to leave as well in order to try and speed up a sale happening.
The player’s former club Deportivo La Coruna are also said to be interested in re-signing him and have reportedly made a bid of £8 million. This offer is likely to have been rejected.
