Jonjo Shelvey has said he has enjoyed his stay at Newcastle United and hopes to continue the same after winning the Championship last season.
The English player has spent only one and a half season at St. James’ Park so far but has become a fan favorite unlike at his last club Swansea, where he was booed by the team’s supporters.
Speaking to the Chronicle, Shelvey said, “My first couple of games I did well, then I found myself out of the team when Rafa came in.”
However, as the season progressed Shelvey made his way into the team and became the centre of Magpies’ ball movement. While talking about his life in Championship with Newcastle, Shelvey told how he was marked closely once the teams realised that he did the ball work for the Magpies.
Shelvey feels motivated to start the new season on a high and taking his form’s momentum into the new season by securing Benitez’s trust.
“But I think with the role I had last season, it allowed me to keep being brave, to get on the ball and get us playing,” said the 25-year old.”
