West Ham United star faces fresh injury blow

Andy Carroll is set to miss the first 3 games for West Ham United and will only make a return in the first home game for Hammers against the Premier League new comers Huddersfield, reports the Mirror.

Manager Slaven Bilic expected the striker’s return to be earlier but is in no hurry after being advised by the medical staff.

Consequently, Carroll is going to miss the games against Manchester United, Southampton and Newcastle United.

The Englishman missed the majority of last season due to various injury problems and made only 22 appearances for Hammers while scoring only 7 goals.

The 28-year old England international suffered from thigh problems at the tail of the last season and hasn’t recovered since then.

Nonetheless, Bilic expects his forward to make a string return against Huddersfield in September ’17.

Speaking about the player’s injury, Bilic expressed his intention of not hurrying Carroll’s return at the start of the season and giving him ample time to fully recover and perform for the Hammers.

In Carroll’s absence, West Ham’s record signing Marko Arnautovic scored a goal in a 2-2 draw against Werder Bremen and showed positive signs of fitting in the team unit.
