Tottenham handed boost as Roma’s £32million bid for transfer target set to be rejected

As per Leicester Mercury, Leicester City are prepared to turn down a £32million bid from AS Roma for wantaway winger Riyad Mahrez.

This gives Tottenham a boost as they asked to be kept informed of developments over the Algeria international.

The Foxes already rejected an earlier £20million offer from the Serie A side, insisting the former PFA player of the year won’t be leaving for less than £50million.

Spurs won’t be breaking the bank to land Mahrez, though, but would likely and promptly join the race for his signature if Leicester mention a price within their budget.

The 26-year-old winger wants to take his career to the next level at a bigger club after 3 seasons at the King Power Stadium.

It is believed that the attacking midfielder prefers to remain in the topflight, and Tottenham could be the right place for him, as both club and player can be of one mind in strongly challenging for the Premier League given their respective history with the title.

Furthermore, Spurs can also do with his experience and the added depth he brings as they prepare for the possible exits of Mousa Sissoko and Georges-Kévin Nkoudou.
