Tottenham reportedly won’t sell £17million flop nor sign another striker

The Daily Mail has made very bold claims concerning Tottenham’s transfer plans towards their striking department.

As per the publication, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is willing to give £17million man Vincent Janssen another chance next season after his disappointing form last term.

The Dutch international arrived from AZ Alkmaar last summer as Eredivisie’s highest goalscorer, but could only score once from open play during the 2016-17 EPL season.

This poor return from the 23-year-old hinted at a likely exit this summer, with quality cover needed for Harry Kane. However, Janssen will very much now remain at the club next term.

With this development and having had zero incoming summer transfer activity till now, Spurs won’t likely be making attempts to add a new centre-forward to their squad.

Janssen found hitting the ground running and competing in the goldfish bowl of the English Premier League herculean in his debut campaign, but with his 27 goals in 34 league games coming just 2 seasons ago, affording him another opportunity to prove himself next term is a gamble worth taking.
