Kyle Walker-Peters has revealed that he hopes to become Tottenham back-up right back next season and replace Kyle Walker, who recently left the club to join Manchester City.

Walker-Peters is highly rated and played a key role in helping the England under-20 side win the World Cup this summer, however he lacks experience at the highest level which has caused many to question whether he should be the teams back up right back next season.

The 20-year-old Walker- Peters did start during the North London club’s 4-2 pre-season win in the International Champions Cup and after the game expressed his hopes for next season, saying, “There’s a big opportunity now that Kyle Walker has gone.

“I’m trying to show that I can be second in line — these are the games to do that out here, and back at the training ground.

“I want to show the manager I’m ready, I want to show him he can trust me in big games if he needs to. These games are the time to do it and on the training pitch, too.”

For now though, Kieran Trippier is expected to start the new season as Mauricio Pochettino’s first choice right back.
