With no single summer signing made yet, Tottenham appear to be biding their time having witnessed last summer’s recruitments; Vincent Janssen, Mousa Sissoko and Georges-Kévin Nkoudou all flop.
In what has been a quiet window, Spurs have been linked with Dinamo Zagreb defender Filip Benkovic, and according to The Mirror, the 20-year-old Croatian would cost at least £13.5million.
Benkovic broke into Zagreb’s first team at 19 having progressed through the club’s youth system, and he is highly valued in the country due to his very promising qualities.
Tottenham’s Kevin Wimmer hasn’t proved to be a great cover for the defensive duo of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, but Benkovic could prove to be a better option.
With 47 first appearances under his belt, 6ft 4 in “Big Ben” boasts of a handful experience that would come handy in England.
Chelsea, Fiorentina, Zenit St Petersburg, Inter Milan and Arsenal are also said to be monitoring the young centre-back, so, it does appear clinching his signature won’t come very easy.
