Sunderland have received a transfer boost as Aston Villa opted to leave their targets Ross McCormack and Tommy Elphick out of their pre-season games in Germany.
The Black Cats are eyeing the signatures of the duo ahead of the upcoming Championship campaign and did make an inquiry about the availability of McCormack.
While McCormack and Elphick had been part of the Villains pre-season matches up until now, the omission of the duo from the club’s squad that will play in Germany suggests that they may not be part of manager Steve Bruce’s plans for the upcoming season.
Though McCormack struggled for form last season, the Black Cats are looking for new experienced strikers after they lost Jermain Defoe and Fabio Borini following their relegation from the Premier League last season.
Considering their experience over the years, McCormack and Elphick will be good additions to Simon Grayson’s side for the upcoming season.
