Barcelona attacker urges the Spanish giants to sign 23-year-old England international

Gerard Deulofeu has urged Barcelona to sign Everton star Ross Barkley this summer. The 23-year-old Barkley looks set to leave Goodison Park this summer after turning down the chance of signing a new contract with the club.

As Barkley has less than a year left on his current contract with Everton, this summer presents the last chance for the Toffees to cash in on a sale of the player.

Barcelona activated the buyback clause in Deulofeu’s contract with Everton to re-sign him this summer and the Spanish international has now urged his club to sign his former team-mate Barkley.

Deulofeu said of his former team-mate, “If Ross can find a club where people believe in him as much as we did in the England set-up, he will do well.

“Players with special talent are players who will divide opinion. He’s a risky passer. He’s a midfielder who will turn with the ball. He will take players on and he will attempt a shot from 20 yards.”

“But he’ll be the first to admit he could do with some help. He’s not the finished article and won’t always get it right in that respect. But if you tell him how to do it right he’ll do it. He’s a good learner.”

The 23-year-old Barkley has reportedly attracted the interest of clubs including Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United. However according to new reports, he could become a target of Barcelona.
