Middlesbrough and Newcastle reportedly battle to sign 30-year-old international

According to reports, Middlesbrough and Newcastle United are looking to sign West Ham goalkeeper Darren Randolph.

The 30-year-old’s chances of first team football at the Hammers next season look slim given that he is likely to start the season as third choice keeper behind Joe Hart, who recently joined the club and Adrian.

Magpies manager Rafa Benitez is looking to recruit a new experienced goalkeeper and has so far, missed out on the likes of Willy Caballero and former Liverpool shot-stopper Pepe Reina.

The Tyneside club are said to be demanding £2.5 million for the Republic of Ireland international. Boro are especially in need of a new goalkeeper following the departures of Victor Valdes and Brad Guzan after their relegation from the Premier League next season.

Considering his experience at the highest level, Randolph will be a good signing for Garry Monk’s side and a move will also see him play regular football.
