This Wednesday, July 19, 2017 (5:00 PM Pacific) Chivas of Guadalajara will host FC Porto at the Estadio Chivas for a friendly match. Both teams are considered title contenders in their respective leagues and should provide an exciting game in Guadalajara.

Chivas is coming off a hard-fought loss in the Campeon de Campeones match against Tigres UANL at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Los Rojiblancos lost narrowly 1-0, against a very potent Tigres side despite having several key absences like Alan Pulido, Jair Pereira, Orbelin Pineda and Rodolfo Pizarro. Matias Almeyda will be without those players for this game and will also suffer the absences of Oswaldo Alanis and Jose Juan Vazquez after injuries in that game against Tigres. The first few weeks in the Liga MX should be tough for Matias Almeyda and Chivas and this game will serve as excellent preparation for those tough games that are coming.

Porto had a disappointing performance at the Estadio Azul in its last preseason match, falling to Cruz Azul in penalties. The Portuguese side featured Jesus Corona, Hector Herrera and Miguel Layun in that match in Mexico City and may even feature Mexican centre-back, Diego Reyes in this game.

It is unclear if all the Mexican core will get game time in this encounter but at least a couple of them should feature in this game. On paper, Porto should be able to win this game, with Chivas having plenty of key absences but it should prove to be a contested clash at the Estadio Chivas this Wednesday.
