According to reports, West Ham are set to beat Chelsea in the race to sign Javier Hernandez and will offer the striker a salary of £145,000-a-week which will make him the highest paid player at the club.
The East London club have been linked with moves for Kelechi Iheanacho and Olivier Giroud this summer but their interest in the duo is said to have cooled, which has meant that the Mexican international Hernandez is now a top target for the club.
Hernandez is currently on the books of German club Bayer Leverkusen, has a £13 million buyout clause in his contract and is set to be open to returning to the Premier League.
Chelsea are also said to have been interested in Hernandez as they look to increase their striker options for the new season but they look likely to miss out now.
At West Ham, it is likely that Hernandez may be a key part of Slaven Bilic’s plans for the upcoming season and provide their attack much needed firepower.
