In what is expected to be an exciting Campeon de Campeones Liga MX match, Chivas of Guadalajara and Tigres UANL will face-off this Sunday, July 16, 2017 (7:30 PM Pacific) at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. This contest will be a rematch of the Clausura 2017 Liga MX final which Chivas won in a 4-3 aggregate score giving them their 12th star.
This highly anticipated match will be a tough contest between possibly Mexico’s two strongest teams. The winner will earn a slightly prestigious title and good bragging rights prior to the start of the Apertura 2017 Liga MX. Moreover, this game will serve to measure each team’s current playing form just days away from the new season.
Chivas of Guadaljara will have several players absent for this match, most notable forward Alan Pulido who was injured with the Mexican national team prior to the start of the Gold Cup. Nonetheless, the team coached by Matias Almeyda has a strong squad which may not have many issues filling in for the missing players. If Chivas win this Sunday, it will be their 8th Campeon de Campeones title.
Tigres UANL qualified to this match after winning the Apertura 2016 Liga MX title where they defeated Club America after penalty kicks. The team coached by Ricardo Ferretti has not had a busy off-season, yet they signed star forward Enner Valencia which could possibly make his team debut against Chivas.
