West Ham reportedly lose out on £9million target to Middlesbrough

According to reports, Middlesbrough have beaten West Ham to the signature of forward Martin Braithwaite after he flew to Teeside for a medical ahead of a £9 million move.

After netting 11 goals in the French Ligue 1 for Toulon last season, Braithwaite had been linked with moves to Middlesbrough and West Ham and it now appears that Boro have won the race to sign him.

This news will come as a blow to Slaven Bilic’s side. In addition to missing out on Braithwaite, they also missed out on Henry Onyekuru who joined Everton, but will spend next season on loan with Belgian giants Anderlecht.

The Hammers will need to bring in new strikers if they are to improve next season. Over recent days, they have been linked with Marko Arnautovic and Olivier Giroud.

While they may not succeed in acquiring Giroud, they are have had two bids for Arnautovic rejected. It also looks like the Stoke forward wishes to join the Hammers’ squad as he has handed in a transfer request to his club.
