Legend slams talks that Rangers should be stripped of titles

Arthur Numan has dismissed talk of Rangers being stripped off titles won during EBT years as nonsense.

The Supreme Court ruled last week that the Gers had broken tax rules as they paid around £47 million into Employee Benefit Trusts between 2001 and 2010. The supposed loans are thought to have been earnings which should have been subjected to tax.

In light of this, Rangers Old Firm rivals Celtic have questioned the Football authorities about whether the financial wrongdoings of their rivals may have helped them on the pitch.

Numan, who played for the Gers from 1998 to 2003, however believes that no action should be taken as his former club did not benefit on the pitch as a result of the actions.

He said, “These discussions have been going on for such a long time but I can’t see it happening. I have heard about the latest discussions and it’s just a lot of nonsense.

“Why should it happen? Why should they talk about taking our titles away?’It’s a discussion for people who need to find something to talk about and I don’t even think about it.”
