This Wednesday, July 12, 2017 (3:30 PM Pacific) Panama will play Nicaragua at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida for a group stage match in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Both teams are trailing behind Martinique in Group B and will be looking for the three points from the encounter.
Panama had a solid start to its 2017 Gold Cup campaign, drawing 1-1 to the United States. Miguel Camargo of New York City FC provided the only goal for the Central American side in the hard-fought 1-1 clash. Panama does have a rigid team with several experienced players that should be able to easily defeat Nicaragua in this game.
Nicaragua started off the competition in the worst viable way, falling 2-0 against Martinique. The Central American side fell to what was believed to be the weakest opponent in Group B and should not be able to compete against Panama or the United States. Nicaragua dominated possession in that game with 52-percent but failed to do anything with it, only having four shots on goal during the 90 minutes. The goalkeeper, Justo Lorente also saved Nicaragua numerous times, getting nine saves during the game. This match should be an interesting one even with Panama emerging as the clear favorite, it should be intriguing to see if there are any surprises in Tampa on Wednesday.
