According to reports, Newcastle United are currently leading the race to sign Jesus Navas. The 31-year-old Navas is available for a free transfer after leaving Manchester City after his contract expired at the end of last season.
Magpies manager Rafa Benitez is looking to sign players with experience in terms of playing at the highest level and considering his success at both international and club level, Navas will be a good addition to the side as the Northeast club prepare for their Premier League return.
After joining City from Spanish club Sevilla in 2013, Navas went on to play 183 times for the club and in the process, scored eight goals – winning a Premier League title and two League cups.
Though he has been linked with a return to Sevilla, the two parties are said to be in a disagreement over wages and this could lead to the player favoring a move to Newcastle.
