According to reports, Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is set to compete a season long loan deal to Aston Villa.
The 24-year-old Johnstone initially arrived on loan at Villa during the second half of last season and was used as first choice keeper by Steve Bruce, impressing the manager in the process.
Johnstone currently appears to be surplus to requirements at the Red Devils and lies below the likes of David De Gea, Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira at the club.
Should he continue to impress next season, there is a good chance that Johnstone will move to the Villains on a permanent basis.
Johnstone, along with Adnan Januzaj and James Wilson, were left out by Jose Mourinho from the United squad that will travel to the United States on a pre-season tour. This suggests that United will be looking to also offload them on either a loan deal or permanent basis.
