Leeds United reportedly finally close to signing 23-year-old African striker

According to reports, it seems that Leeds United are finally going to sign Caleb Ekuban. After several weeks of negotiating, Italian Serie A side Chievo and the Peacocks are said to be near the deal.

The 23-year-old striker was a target for Leeds United even before Thomas Christiansen has been appointed as a new manager this summer.

Ekuban joined Chievo Verona 7 years ago as the young teenager and progressed his way through the club’s youth system.

After several loans, he had exploded during the previous season, when he played for Partizani Tirana, a member of the Albanian Super League as he scored 18 goals and added 5  assists in 42 appearances.

Excellent performances attracted Leeds United scouts, who recommended the Ghanaian player to the management.

If he moves to Elland Road, Ekuban will become a perfect support or even a replacement for Chris Wood, who might even leave Leeds United because of the interests of major English clubs. The next few days will be decisive regarding this case.
