According to reports, Wayne Rooney could join Everton by the end of this week on a free transfer.
The Toffees are looking to sign Rooney, who is a product of their youth development system and started his senior at the Merseyside club prior to joining Manchester United in 2004.
Rooney is understood to have pulled out of the United squad that will travel to the USA as he is in the process of finalizing his move to join Everton.
The 31-year-old Rooney will continue to earn £250,000-a-week at Everton and has not taken up more lucrative offers from China.
A move to Goodison Park will help Rooney in his aims to get back into the England squad ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
The striker will likely receive more game time than he did at United last season and this will give him more opportunities to try and convince England manager Gareth Southgate of his abilities.
