According to reports, Everton have joined West Ham in the race to sign Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud and are prepared to pay up to £20 million.
The Frenchman is reportedly unhappy at the Gunners as he was consigned to mainly a backup role this past season, with 18 of his 29 Premier League appearances coming off the bench and he wants to play more regularly in order to win a place in the France squad for the 2018 World Cup.
It is also possible that Giroud will slip further down the pecking order at Arsenal considering that they are interested in signing Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.
Everton are expected to lose Romelu Lukaku this summer, with the Belgian striker widely being expected to link up with former club Chelsea and should the Belgian leave the Toffees, Giroud will be a good signing for Ronald Koeman’s team as the Frenchman is a proven goal scorer with plenty of experience in the Premier League.
