Aston Villa reportedly in talks over 23-year-old defender’s transfer

According to The Sun, Aston Villa is involved in extensive negotiations with the Spanish side Sevilla over the transfer of Jordan Amavi.

The French full-back is set to leave the club, and Steve Bruce is willing to offload the player. The Villa boss needs to raise cash for the purchase of Glenn Whelan and possible other reinforcements, and selling Amavi seems like a good idea.

However, Villa’s asking price for the defender is £10.5 million. As the sources close to the club are finding out, Sevilla has placed an initial offer of £5.2 million, which was immediately rejected, but, the Spanish side is still hopeful of striking a deal.

At the same time, a host of other clubs is monitoring the situation with Amavi. Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain are keen on bringing him back to France, and it remains to be seen how much money will manager Steve Bruce receive for the departing star.
