Tottenham reportedly start talks with 28-year-old star

According to The Mirror, the Spurs will double the wages to Toby Alderweireld in an effort to keep him at the club for a while.

The Belgium international has been heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan recently, but manager Mauricio Pochettino is not keen on selling the player who has gradually developed into one of the best centre-backs in the league.

That is why Tottenham are ready to offer Alderweireld in an improved deal and reward him for his performances.

The 28-year-old defender arrived in England three years ago from Atletico Madrid, spending his first season on loan at Southampton. Since he impressed during his time with the Saints, Alderweireld made a move to Tottenham, and over time – he has cemented his place in the back of their defense.

Reportedly, the defender will become equal to Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris regarding salaries after the aforementioned contract talks are over, and it seems that North London will remain his home.
