This Sunday, June 18, 2017 (9:00 AM Pacific) Germany will play the Czech Republic at the Stadion Miejski Tychach in Tychach, Poland for a group stage match in the 2017 U21 UEFA Euro. Both teams are in arguably the toughest group in the competition, Group C and should be able to provide a great spectacle.
Germany is one of the favorites to take the competition with one of the strongest squads in the tournament. Germany has always excelled in producing youth talent and currently has a prominent generation of young footballers. The U21 squad has many standouts including players that have played for the senior German national team. The team has a well-balanced roster with the defense and the midfield being the most formidable components of the squad.
The defense has experienced Bundesliga players like Yannick Gerhardt, Mitchell Weiser and Niklas Stark. The midfield is perhaps the most imposing force on the team with players like Max Meyer of Schalke 04, Mahmoud Dahoud of Borussia Dortmund and the captain, Maximilian Arnold of Wolfsburg. One of the more dangerous attackers on the team is Serge Gnabry who had a stellar season at Werder Bremen and has now signed with Bayern Munich.
The German side does seem to be the clear favorites heading into the encounter but will face a potent opposition in the Czech Republic. The midfield is perhaps the most imposing force on the team with players like Max Meyer of Schalke 04, Mahmoud Dahoud of Borussia Dortmund and the captain, Maximilian Arnold of Wolfsburg. The Czech Republic do not count with the same type of experience as the German national team but still have an abundance of talent on its roster. The Czech Republic does not have the same track record as Germany in producing world class talent but has had its gems over the years. The most talented component of this particular team has to be the offense which has one of the more potent strikers in the competition.
The midfield also has some exciting players like Vaclav Cerny of Ajax and Jakub Jantko of Italian side, Udinese. As mentioned before the Czech Republic does have one of the more talented strikers in the competition, Patrick Schick of Sampdoria. Schick scored 11 goals in the Serie A this season with Sampdoria and is already wanted by the Italian giants, Juventus. The game should be an outstanding encounter between two of the more exciting teams in the competition.
