West Ham decide to release talented defender

As the Daily Mail reports, West Ham have released defender Stephen Hendrie.

As a part of a summer clear out, manager Slaven Bilic has offloaded the player who joined West Ham in 2015 from Hamilton. At that time of his signing, Hendrie was deemed a talented prospected and an investment for the future.

However, the 22-year-old never really found his place with the Hammers, and spent the last season on loan at Blackburn, where he managed to acquire only eight appearances. Similarly, he was sent on a season-long loan spell at Southend earlier.

As Hendrie failed to make a signing appearance for the first team with the Hammers, he has been released and the Scottish defender will now look to continue his career elsewhere in hopes of having more luck with his next destination.

Bilic is keen on offloading some of the unwanted players from West Ham in an effort to prepare the funding for big-name additions to his attacking lineup this summer.
