Celtic target Jonny Hayes has said that he will not allow talk about his future to distract him while he is on international duty with the Republic of Ireland ahead of their match against World Cup qualifier against Austria in Dublin on Saturday.

Hayes said: “I can’t allow it to distract me. This 362-day season for me finishes with the Austria game. After that, I’ll be keeping my promise of bringing my son to Disneyland in Paris.

“We will see what happens. However whatever happens, the break will be short, just like last year. I really don’t mind, as there’s no place I’d rather be now than with this squad in the run-up to Sunday as we’re in good shape heading into that qualifier.”

Celtic are reportedly lining up a £1.2 million bid for Hayes and are aiming to secure his signature soon. Although Hayes prefers to move to Celtic, Cardiff City are reportedly trying to hijack the move with a £1.2 million bid of their own.

Hayes was reportedly viewed as a replacement for Celtic’s teenage sensation Patrick Roberts, who was on loan from Manchester City.

However, whatever future Celtic have planned for Hayes remains to be seen after it has been reported that City and Celtic are currently in advanced talks about securing Roberts on a permanent basis at Parkhead ahead of next season.

Pep Guardiola is reportedly willing to let Roberts go on a permanent basis for the right price.
