Leeds United star Chris Wood has said that his club need to build on the foundation that former manager Gary Monk laid at the club during his one season in charge if they are to progress next year.
Wood said, “We’ve got the foundations, you have to build on it. We can’t be tearing those down to start new ones.”
During his only full season in charge of the Yorkshire outfit, Monk led the club to a seventh place finish on the Championship standings, narrowly missing out on a place in the promotion playoffs.
Monk shockingly resigned as manager of the Whites two weeks ago and the club will now need to find a new manager. Among the names that have been linked with the vacant managerial position include Aitor Karanka, Juande Ramos and Claudio Ranieri.
Leeds have had far too many managers since being relegated from the Premier League in 2004. This has arguably halted their progress as a club.
