West Ham chief hints at summer exit for centre-back

Recent reports appeared to suggest that West Ham youngster Reece Oxford will be loaned out next season in order to gain more match experience, though he still remains a part of the future plans of the Hammers.

The 18-year-old Oxford has been linked with a move to German club Borussia Monchengladbach. It appears that these rumors have truth to them according to a recent Twitter update from West Ham co-owner David Gold.

Gold wrote on Twitter, “We have 4 experience international centre backs it’s hard for a teenager to get selected ahead of them. His time will come.”

After making a mark against Arsenal at the age of just 16 two years ago, Oxford struggled to impress during his loan with Reading during the second half of last season, making just five appearances for the Championship outfit.

Though Oxford did not do his chances of breaking into the Hammers first team any good during his unsuccessful loan spell, he will likely be given a second loan spell by the club to try and prove himself.
