Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles has said that his club needs to be fired up as it prepares for a Premier League return next season.
In only his first full season in charge of the Magpies, manager Rafa Benitez led the club to the Championship title and promotion and he will be doing extensive shopping this summer in order to bolster the Tyneside side ahead of the Premier League next season.
Lascelles said, “We’re a very young team. We have a great set of lads on and off the field.“We’re a very tight group. That has definitely helped us this season.
“It would be nice to see people are staying. Hopefully, we can have a good pre-season. And we can start off in the big boy league properly.”
There will be many changes that will be made to the Magpies this summer, however Lascelles will be the man that will be likely to wear the captains armband for the club next season.
Fans of the club will be confident that the club can churn out impressive results next season especially considering that they will be guided by the experience of Benitez.
