Celtic director Lord Livingston has stepped down from the club after more than a decade of service.

In 2015, many fans of the Bhoys petitioned to have Livingston removed from the club after he backed the Conservative governments cuts to tax credits.

He also claimed that he was subjected to racist abuse to fans during the controversy. Whilst announcing that he will be leaving the Scottish giants, Livingston said, “Having stood in the Jungle as a boy, it was a great honour to be a director of Celtic. With the club in a strong position, I look forward to Celtic’s continued success in the future.”

Celtic added that Livingston will be focusing on other endeavors upon his departure which will include serving as chairperson of telecommunications group Dixons carphone and investment management firm Man Group.

Since many fans were unhappy with the presence of Livingston at the club, he has certainly done the right thing.
