Everton are set to face competition from China and the MLS in gaining the signature of Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney. Rooney is set to leave United after falling down the pecking order at the club.
Toffees boss Ronald Koeman as well as managing director Steve Walsh have indicated interest in signing Rooney, who is a youth product of the Merseyside club.
Should the 31-year-old Rooney also wish to reclaim a spot in the England national team ahead of the 2018 World Cup, then moving to Everton will also be the most logical choice and it will allow him to continue competing on a high level.
However given the money that is offered in the Chinese Super League, Rooney may also be tempted by a transter to the Far East.
He recently said of his future, “There are lots of offers on the table, both in England and abroad, and that’s what I have to decide on. I’ve got some decisions to make now over the next few weeks so I will talk with my family and then I’ll decide.”
