Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has hinted at a possible return to boyhood club Everton as he is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.
The 31-year-old Rooney was omitted from Gareth Southgate’s latest England national team squad that is set to play against Scotland and France, and must be frustrated with his lack of first team opportunities at United.
When asked about the speculation linking him with a move away from United, Rooney said, “There’s lots of offers on the table, both in England and abroad, and really that’s what I have to decide on.
“When he was asked if he could return to Everton, he added, “I’ve played for two Premier League clubs and they’re the only two Premier League clubs I’ll play for.”
It remains to be seen whether Rooney will join Everton or opt to see out his career in either China or the United States.
